Bingley Music Live
Chances are that unless you’re a Yorkshire resident, you may never have heard of Bingley Music Live. However as we all know too well, September signals the end of the festival season, but with Bingley Music Live there is always time reserved for a final blow-out before the grim British autumnal weather sweeps the nation. Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th September marks Bingley Music Live’s 10th anniversary, where 15,000 people shall descend upon Myrtle Park in West Yorkshire for a small, but oh so perfectly formed and organised final summer hurrah.
Bingley Music Live plays host to an array of artists from the well-established to the next big thing. Headlined by Tinie Tempah, who will be sure to make you dance until you pass out, the 50-strong artists on offer promise to cater to everyone’s tastes. For instance, for those with a predisposition to skanking away to drum and bass, then your wishes will be fulfilled by Sigma. While in a hark back to most attendees younger days, Bingley Music Live provides The Ordinary Boys and Scottish outfit Travis (let’s just hope they don’t make it rain on the crowd). Other confirmed acts include the super-popular booking Echo and the Bunnymen, Anne-Marie (as of Rudimental and Magnetic Man collaborating vocalist fame, but who is now garnering much attention as a solo pop artist), Glass Mountain, Brownbear, Joe Crookall and Tempesst.
There still remains a whole host of acts to be confirmed, but one thing that BML have promised is an Allstar Bowie Celebration, where special guests shall perform their favourite Bowie tracks. Bingley pride themselves on promoting festival goers to don their best fancy dress, and this year, in memory of David Bowie, they have requested that fans try their utmost to emulate the legend that sadly passed away earlier this year. Artists shall be performing on both the Main Stage and the Discovery Stage, while if you take the time to wander the site then you’ll find a real ale bar, cocktails as well as a gin bar and a festival market area.
Bingley offers an alternative option to the huge pop festivals at a fraction of a price, and given its intimacy, there is much more than a modicum of friendliness on offer across the festival. Since its inception in its modern form in 2007, Bingley Music Live has consistently provided an eclectic lineup which has guaranteed a loyal following of attendees year on year. And there’s certainly reason to see why people keep coming back. Whether it’s the variety of different styles of music on offer, the family friendly atmosphere, the notion of kitting yourself out as Bowie, or the wide selection of food and drink available, and all at an incredibly reasonable price, BML is sure to draw in the crowds and provide revelers with a wonderful weekend.
Myrtle Park is located just two minutes from Bingley town centre, with park and ride options for drivers, while the site is a short five minute walk from Bingley Railway Station. For the first time in BML’s history, there is now an option to camp, allowing attendees to continue the party back at their tents, where it is permitted to bring your own alcohol. The campsite will also contain a bar, as well as post-show entertainment. So before you splash out on a festival on the scale of Leeds, think about saving your pennies and look no further than joining the 5,000 fellow BML goers each day and grab yourself a ticket. At only £88 for an adult ticket including the three nights of camping (or £60.50 without camping), it really is great value for money. There is an additional option to purchase single day tickets, and when these go on sale they shall be priced at £38.50 for the Friday and £44 for the Saturday and Sunday respectively.
