I was having a great time for my friends birthday. During a point in the evening I went to the bathroom with a friend. We were chatting, so we went into the same toilet. Admittedly there were plenty of free toilets but we were talking so we went in one loo together thinking nothing of it. When we left the toilet we were informed that the manager wanted to talk to us outside. Thinking it was nothing serious we followed. Once outside we were informed that we had been “kicked out” by a staff member. I had no phone and no wallet. I begged the bouncer to let me back in to retrieve my stuff but he refused. I then asked him why we had been kicked and we were told that we were too drunk and needed to sober up then we would be able to go back in. Sometime later I asked the bouncer again if I could go and get my stuff. He refused again and stated this time we had been kicked out because we had gone in the same toilet and accused us of using drugs. When asked to provide evidence of this the staff refused. Firstly I do not appreciate being accused of using drugs and secondly women often use the bathroom together regardless of whether there is ample free toilets. It is totally normal! I still had no phone, keys or wallet to go home. The more I persisted in the retrieval of my belongings the more the staff belittled me calling me drunk to each other and laughing. I was angry, I had every right to be, I just wanted my bag so I could go home and not ruin my friends birthday. Whilst I understand this kind of subject is under managerial discretion. I am furious as the fact that I was accused of something I didn’t do and not allowed to go and retrieve my things. If this is your policy to kick women out if they use the same toilet then I recommend that you put posters up regarding your policy and enable them to inform their party that they are leaving/ take their belongings. It is your responsibility as a proprietors of alcohol to ensure the safety of your customers under all circumstances. Reading your Facebook reviews it seems that many women have had similar issues. Ultimately we had a terrible evening that ruined my friends 30th birthday all because your sexist staff couldn’t understand that sometimes women go to the bathroom together other than to use drugs!
