20th January 2017 - I was so not going to let my ankle broken in two places stop me from attending this Iconic Flagship Groundbreaking Trendsetting Super Club in London.
Delighted that I was able to use my Fabric First membership to get a free invite.
Very impressed with the security team, they whisked me through with aplomb, but not before I insisted on having my one photo of the night - OUTSIDE Fabric!
I got involved with the very public campaign to save Fabric, donating to the legal fund, a 24 hour solo dance fundraiser and attending the Nightlife Matters March.
I went right away onto the floor of Room 1, just standing there right in the middle of this iconic club, so many memories came flooding back, it was a very emotional moment. I looked up and let the setting lighting and perfect sound absorb. Feeling so proud that I played a tiny part in #YouSavedFabric ( which was projected onto a wall in Room 2 ) I then sat on the huge stage and for at least half an hour.
I did attempt to dance but it is not frigging easy, could sort of sway.
Then I went to the gallery and managed to find a sofa where I could elevate my right leg, enjoying my first of several complimentary glasses of white wine ( a lovely guy who remembered me from the campaign thrust some comps in my hand ) I delighted in watching the club floor rapidly fill up and thinking 'where would all these clubbers go if Fabric had not re-opened? It was pure joy, and oh the BODY MASSAGE! With a unique sound system this is the effect you get, it also made me appreciate that although I listen at home to music all the time, no home sound system could come anywhere close to the LIVE Fabric Sound, it is UNIQUE in the UK.
Also on the sound it was at a perfect level, last year after twelve years of regular clubbing I suddenly got tinnitus at another well know large venue in London ( I won't mention the name ) a real professional DJ who respects his audience will get it right - The sound levels were PERFECT.
Oh what memories flooded back when I went to Room 3 the smallest room I vividly remember Horse Meat Disco having this room with my friend Severino in the decks.
Then to room 2 which always reminds me somehow of a cathedral, it's the scale, and always seems to have a spiritual feel.
Thank-you Fabric I will be returning soon!
