South West Four: A Rave In The City
Remember when a music festival used to mean spending half a day trying to find where the hell it actually is? Well how about a dance music weekender plonked right in the bustling capital featuring some of the hottest DJ’s around? We’re good to you here at Licklist!
Easily accessible by all forms of public transport, Clapham Common will play host to South West Four and you’d be mad to miss it! Huge names from the world of dance will be spinning tracks over the four stages, Deadmau5, Eric Prydz and Alesso will be there in what the organisers describe as ‘one of the best line ups we’ve ever had!’
City Slickers
The unique selling point of this weekender is its location, you’ll struggle to find an electronic music festival of this calibre in a major city, but SW4 allows you to take in the wonder of the Big Smoke rather than the smell of a big farmer’s field. But remember, this is a non-camping event, so those from outside London make sure you get those hotels booked early to avoid paying through the nose!
The festival site opens from midday to ten thirty at night so there’s potential to carry on the party in the capital afterwards and if your banging head allows, get up early and see some sites Actually, probably not that last one.
All Killer, No Filler
I’m sure like us at Licklist you just love to throw your hands in the air and get lost in some great music, doesn’t that moment of elation just make all your problems disappear for a while? Well SW4 have assembled a line up of big hitter after big hitter to ensure those moments come thick and fast, there are no acts here to make up numbers. World class DJ after world class DJ will make this the best possible way to say goodbye to the summer and postpone that melancholic feeling of knowing the days are getting shorter and shorter from her on in.
SW4 celebrated its tenth anniversary last summer and for a relatively young festival it has gone from strength to strength in spectacular fashion, the buzz is greater than ever before and the booking of Deadmau5 in his only London performance this summer to headline the Saturday is the biggest and most exciting in its history. Clapham Common really will be the place to be come August Bank Holiday weekend.
What You Waiting For?
Ticket sales for SW4 have broken all previous records this year so you’ll need to get your skates on if you want to get your hands on some. You can buy a day ticket for £55 or a weekend pass for £105 which for twenty one hours of music over the two days works out at £5 per hour, that’s the price of one beer in a London boozer. Look at us getting all mathematical! Seriously though, we think this could just be the bargain of the summer, so dig out your glow sticks, body paint and whatever else you can find and pray for sunshine to turn this into an epic Ibiza style summer closing party right on your doorstep.
South West Four takes place on Clapham Common, London on the 23rd and 24th of August. For more information regarding tickets, line up etc log on to http://www.southwestfour.com/
