Kendal Calling ’17

Who’s calling? None other than our favourite Kardashian/Jenner! Or maybe not. Skip the Pepsi and check out this year’s Kendal Calling festival for access to the latest and greatest independent music.

When and Where

Kendal Calling is taking place on 27-30 July at the Lake District’s Lowther Park. Anticipate rolling hills, gorgeous scenery, and plenty of wildlife. We can’t wait to get out the urban jungle to where it’s green and serene!

The Lineup

We’re ready for an insane lineup this year, mostly because we can’t deal with the fact that Brian Wilson, of Beach Boys fame, will be performing Pet Sounds! We die. I Get Around is still our favourite DJ pick to throw shade on our love rivals. (Just us?)

We’ve also got the incredible Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Tinie Tempah, The Editors, and Jake Bugg (who used to date Cara Delevingne, if anyone’s interested). We’re vibrating with excitement — it could be the six litres of Diet Coke we just drank to get ready for work after the Easter weekend, but it’s hard to say.

Also headlining are Example & DJ Wire (still kicking it to Kickstarts? I mean, who isn’t?), Bugzy Malone, Jungle, Faithless, Idris Elba (the next James Bond? Fingers crossed), Kurupt FM, Shadow Child, and Mike Skinner! Again with the palpitations. (If they keep up after we finish talking about the music, we might cruise down to A&E.)

Where to Go

As well as fifteen stages, Kendal Calling boasts a unique and exciting collection of food, drink, and fun. With eighteen food vendors to choose from, you won’t go hungry — unless you don’t like the sound of such outlets as Strumpets with Crumpets and Gandhi’s Flip Flop.

Lowther Park is also hosting the Real Ale Festival, and it’s got its own lineup to match! Kendal Calling has its own ales — the appropriately named Kendale and Oh Deer — and there are, of course, many other offerings. We’re pretty clueless about ale, but Hardknott Brewery’s Lux Borealis sounds low-key legendary.

If you’re looking to stock up on jewelry, handmade clothing, and various artisan products, check out the markets! They’ll pop up all around the festival, giving you the option of collecting some one-of-a-kind souvenirs.

You can also get a massage at the Garden of Eden, kick back with Aladdin at the Cinema, and appreciate some exhaustively creative Site Art (this year’s theme is Colour).

See you there!
