Licklist guide to... Newquay

Newquay is one of the most visually stunning areas of England. Over the past decade it has earned a reputation of being the party town of the UK, hosting world-class events such as Boardmasters and Run to the Sun. In addition its epic nightlife, the town is also host to several miles of golden sands and some of the best surfing waves in Europe. But what else is there to do? After all you do when you can’t always rely on the sun (this is Britain, after all!)?

During the day why not visit the Cornish Cider Farm? OK, so you may have to travel a little to get to this attraction, but with Truro (the capital of Cornwall) nearby you have a good opportunity to spend the rest of the day shopping. The farm is free to enter and with free tasting and cheap alcohol, what’s not to love? You can tour the farm, see how cider is produced and packaged, and take a tractor ride around the farm. Word of advice, just make sure you do this before the tasting…

Other day time activities (that don’t involve surfing or sunbathing) include visiting some of the many attractions in town or close by, such as the Zoo, golf course, Trenance Leisure Park, Waterworld, Sea Life Centre and Tunnels Through Time.

But this is also one of the few places in the UK where you can find awesome nightlife, as well as stunning seaside views! Those of you who like to stay out all night and then sleep all day will love the Newquay nightlife where the party never stops…

Newquay's No.1 bar and restaurant, The Central Inn is the hub of Newquay life every day and night of the year. Located in the heart of the town, The Central Inn is a stylish premium bar and the perfect place to meet friends at any time of the day. Virtually everybody has to walk or drive past it to get to the shops and beaches. This makes it one of the busiest bars around especially as, out the front of it, there is a lovely large seating area where everybody can congregate to watch people passing by.

Keeping with the surfing theme, Walkabout is another popular venue, selling authentic Australian food. They’re notably the best sports bar with 3 Sky-boxes and the biggest screen in Newquay! You can enjoy open mic nights on Tuesday and party till the early hours on Friday & Saturday.

The Sailors Arms is the perfect venue to host a hen/stag, birthday do or simply just to celebrate the weekend! A pub during the weekdays and a nightclub at the weekend- it’s Newquay’s friendly local pub, where you can relax and enjoy the view of the Bay from the famous decking area, as well as some pretty awesome  pub food. As a nightclub Sailors is said to be the best in the Southwest with fantastic offers and club events. Friday night is i-candy: free entry with a handbag (odd, but we’re not complaining) or if you have a Loyalty Card, plus £2.00 on selected drinks. Saturday night is Passion, Cornwall's biggest Party. Music Policy is the best of Commercial Dance, R&B, Indie and Party.

To ensure you experience the best of what Newquay has to offer, make sure you talk to one of the bar tour reps. Newquay's Biggest Bar Tour is a ticketed event that kicks off at 8pm each night. You can get tickets off the website (www.newquaysbiggestbartour.co m). Tickets will guarantee you free entry to clubs, free shots and facepaints on arrival and even some party games- this Ibiza-style party is one not to miss!

Newqauy has so much more to offer than walks along one of the eleven superb beaches or exploring the cliff tops. Its visitor attractions and leisure activities are some of the best in Cornwall. So if you can tear yourself away from the golden sands of Newquay's beaches, or wonderful walks, you will discover such a wealth of entertainment in Cornwall's favourite seaside resort.
