Shakedown 2014 Succeeds yet again!

Shakedown 2014, Brighton’s biggest festival, went off without a hitch last week, maintaining its reputation as a haven for urban music lovers.

Each year, Shakedown festival takes over the Waterhall area on the outskirts of Brighton and hosts one of Britain’s greatest summer event.  This year was no different. The exclusive festival put on three stages of entertainment and, with the sun shining and Boots making incredible profits on suncream, the line-up kept festivalgoers swaying and swinging long into the summer’s night.

Shakedown is a one-day event. With a strictly over-18-only policy and no camping areas, the festival offered music fans the perfect way to spend the day soaking up everything the summer had to offer. Despite having to compete with annoying wasps for the last strawberry, fans were treated to a truly incredible line-up of music.

Who turned up?

Yet again, Shakedown was able to get some of the biggest names in urban music. Basement Jaxx headlined on the main stage, combining some of their most popular tracks with an awesome display of lights and lazers. Earlier in the day, as the sun forced the crowd to apply layer upon layer of sun cream, Duke Dumont kept the party going, playing all of his number one hits. Acting as the cherry on top of the cake, special guest Gorgon City completed the star-studded main stage line-up.

While DJ Zinc, High Contrast and Wilkinson graced the Supercharged Presents stage, treating music lovers to a day of deep base and summer tunes, on the Audio Presents Area 10 stage, MK and Lee Foss took to the decks, mixing and scratching some of this year’s biggest tunes. We know, what a line-up!

To end the perfect day, Concorde 2 hosted this year’s official Supercharged after party. Music lovers had to chance to share a drink or two with some of their favourite artists. Alongside the party atmosphere, some incredible DJ sets and live performances kept the festival atmosphere going long into the night.

A brilliant day in Brighton…

Shakedown has a reputation for attracting some of music’s biggest acts. With the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Katy B and Chase & Status having performed on previous occasions, fans were always in for a treat. The festival offers a carnival atmosphere and non-stop summer jams. And so, as people slowly staggered home, breathing in the fresh sea air, scoffing down on a kebab and reflecting on an awesome day of music, the organizers packed up their stage for another year.

Here at Licklist, we can’t wait until next summer!
