Dead Prez is an underground hip-hop duo which formed in 1996 in New York City, New York, United States, consisting of rapper Stic.Man and M-1.



Famous for their confrontational style, combined with socialist lyrics focused on both militant social justice, and also positivity, Dead Prez maintain an ethical stance against corporate control over the media, especially hip-hop record labels.



Their social consciousness and style influences not only fans, but other artists. Kanye West considered them important role models: "It wasn't until I hung out with Dead Prez and understood how to make, you know, raps with a message sound cool that I was able to just write "All Falls Down" in 15 minutes."

Subculture Sage is producer 'Subculture Sounds' and lyricist 'Hypeman Sage'. Likened by Mixmag to The Streets and Roll Deep and described by Clash as “utterly London”; their first 3 singles have brought them to the forefront of the UK hiphop scene and landed them with a handful of Radio 1 and Radio 6 plays from Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank, Phil Taggart and others.
