VERY SPECIAL GUEST MR SHIVER
About this Event
Music has played a part in Mr Shiver's life since the age of 9 when he started playing trumpet and piano - during his teenage years he also picked up the guitar.....whilst at school he joined several bands, which played a lot of James Brown and funk covers....also a love of hip hop, disco and house music started to develop in the late 80s/early 90s.....Turntables became the next instrument for Mr Shiver to master and this lead to hours being spent learning how to scratch and mix.......and it wasn't long before he was djing at local parties. Then parties became clubs when he DJ'ed for Philip Salon's now legendary Mud Club at Bagley's back in the mid 90s. It was around this time that he started to also produce music and a few years later, as part of Unsung Heroes, released the LP 'Unleashed' to critical acclaim and subsequently managed to license it all over the world too!
The production continued and it was after making a track for the 'Allenko Brotherhood Ensemble' LP on Comet Records that the legendary Tony Allen, (drummer for Fela Kuti's Africa '70) asked the Unsung Heroes to produce his next LP 'Home Cooking' - It was on this LP that Damon Albarn was introduced to Tony, after he was asked to come and do some vocals. The rest as they say is history, as Tony now plays drums for at least 2 of
Damon's projects. Meanwhile Shiver's djing was going from strength to strength, playing up and down the country. Manchester, Bristol,Bournemouth and even Middlesborough, also playing dates in European cities such as Paris and Amsterdam.
More recently his love of house music prompted him to start producing some of that too and he collaborated with Mulletover head honcho Geddes on his 'Trial and Error' EP which was released on Tsuba records. The Mulletover connection has resulted in him Djing many times at their parties and after parties over the years, playing a broad mixture of disco, house and techno.Other favourite gigs have included playing twice on the Sancho Panza rig at the Notting Hill Carnival and at one of their legendary boat parties. Also, Djing for WetYourself! at Fabric 4 times
Most weekends Mr Shiver can be found plying his trade in various clubs/warehouses in London town. Playing a wide variety of music, depending on the party he's playing at.........
