RTB & Milk Present - 'Spotlight' | Open Mic + Saskia Tomlinson

14/06/2017

About this Event

RTB Spoken Word & Milk Poetry join forces again to present another evening of the critically acclaimed ‘Spotlight’ event at the Crofters Rights, featuring an extended open mic and a feature set from Saskia Tomlinson!

The event puts the Spotlight on Bristol’s outstanding emerging talent pool, providing a relaxed and welcoming environment for newbies, veterans and anybody in between to perform their work in a safe space. As a smaller, cosier event occurring the week before RTB at the Watershed, it's a perfect opportunity to perform to a warm and intimate audience at the lovely Crofters Rights in the heart of Stokes Croft.

Tickets are just £3 and are available on the door only – nobody will be turned away, plenty of space, although the room tends to fillvery quickly and, whilst we accommodate everyone, be sure to arrive early for a seat!

Please arrive promptly to sign up for the open mic!

Hosted by Tim Ledwitch and Malaika Kegode.

Doors: 19:30pm

Start: 20:00pm

SASKIA TOMLINSON:

Saskia Tomlinson is a London based poet. She started preforming in the South West and is proud of her Devon roots. She studies Illustration Animation at Kingston University and is interested in the therapeutic side to the creative arts. This is something she wants to expand upon in her career. She experiments with combining spoken word with moving image, and finds this an interesting and exciting medium.

She has preformed at a number of poetry events and festivals across the UK, and won the Exeter Poetry Slam in 2013. She has also run workshops in both animation and creative writing. She enjoys working with communities as well as preforming and being part of the spoken word world. Her poetry explores relationships, emotions and tells stories that need to be told.
