Major Ruse + support: Dirty Future All Stars
About this Event
Major Ruse are a hip hop influenced jazz quartet with a rocky, punk edge, described by Tom Robinson as ‘a totally fantastic f***ing noise’. Armed with just a sax, a guitar, a bass and a drum kit, Major Ruse makes music that takes risks, pulls on heartstrings and makes you want to shake a leg! They take in everything from math rock to hip-hop, blend it up in jazz and fire it back out with groove and feeling.
Along the way they have played many festivals including Love Supreme, We Out Here and Manchester Jazz Festival as well as supporting the likes of Oscar Jerome and Blue Lab Beats.
They have had their latest single played on BBC 6 Music and been invited to play live on Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Music show..
”With the recent success of "The Comet Is Coming", the time is surely ripe for the virtuoso quartet of Marcus Joseph (sax) Jamie Sykes (drums), Jack Benjamin (bass) and Joe Egan (guitar) to enjoy a major UK breakthrough.“ - Tom Robinson
