The Franklys

are an all-girl garage rock’n'roll band based in London, featuring a rhythm section as solid and driving as an army tank, which consists of all-American drummer Nicole Pinto and home grown talent Zoe Biggs on bass. Fronting up the quartet like a pair of firecrackers personified are Swedish pair Jen Ahlkvist (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), and Fanny Broberg (lead guitar), contributing with double-barrelled screaming guitars and melodic guitar hooks, lending a rich variety to the styles and sounds that cascade off the stage.





These four ladies have been making themselves known around the capital since they kicked it all off with a sell-out show at London’s historical 100 Club in 2012. Since then the girls have been working hard both in the studio and on the road with multiple hard rocking performances, and a tour through East-coast America in October 2013. Early 2014 saw their first gigs in Sweden, plus numerous dates across London. Further UK-wide dates followed, which included playing both the Main Stage and the XFM Stage at Strawberry Fields Festival in Leicestershire as well as shows in Germany and Norway.





Between extensive touring, The Franklys have released an eponymous debut EP in early 2013, and follow up single ‘Puppet’ in spring 2014 which was recorded on 2″ tape and released on a 7″ limited edition vinyl, both produced and mastered by Sean Douglas (Adam Ant, Wire) and Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys) at Fish Factory Studios in London. The ‘Puppet’ music video had an exclusive premiere on Clash Magazine’s website in April, with recognition in press such as Artrocker, Vive le Rock and Sonic Shocks.





The second single ‘What You Said’ was recorded at legendary Rockfield Studios (Queen, Oasis and, most recently, Royal Blood), and produced by Sean Genockey (RedRacer) and mastered by Ed Woods (Muse, Roger Daltrey). Released digitally in autumn 2014, it had a rave review in NME Radar October 4th issue and once again an exclusive premiere on Clash Magazine’s website for the ‘What You Said’ music video.





2015 will see the girls take on another full on smack year with new single ‘Bad News’ also produced by Sean Genockey (RedRacer) and mastered by Ed Woods (Muse, Roger Daltrey). Released in April with smashing reviews in various press, with the accompanied music video premiered on Xfm Radio, The Franklys are following up with heavily touring around the UK, Germany and France, with festival shows at Isle of Wight Festival, Camden Rocks Festival, Tramlines Festival, Tannerfest and Stortford Music Festival.





The Franklys’ music has been spun heavily on radio stations, both in the UK and overseas, on BBC Introducing, Xfm, London’s A1 Radio, Roundhouse Radio as well as on Artrocker Radio, Amazing Radio, BBC Suffolk and Hard to Port Radio in Baltimore, USA. The girls have also been sponsored by clothing giants Fred Perry, accompanied with a feature on the Fred Perry Subculture website.

Last reserves

We formed in January 2014 with an aim to re-incorporate the bare-bones nature of the first wave punk movement into the modern “pop punk” era. Taking influences from groups such as Black Sabbath, Motörhead and the Sex Pistols, we wrote several original songs, which we are currently recording to release as an EP.
