14/04/2023

About this Event

Out of the thousands of hopefuls that entered the Isle of Wight Festival New Blood Competition, only a handful now remain in the Semi-Finals. These artists are some of the most exciting and promising acts on the scene and will all be competing for a coveted slot at Isle of Wight Festival 2023!

So make your voice heard and support your favourite act for their chance to perform at Isle of Wight Festival!

the Ilfords
https://hotvox.co.uk/artist/the-ilfords/

The Ilfords are a raucous, ‘characterful’ alt/indie rock outfit out of Ilford Road, Newcastle, that draw comparisons to Foals, Arctic Monkeys, The Maccabees and Palace.

2022 saw the boys (‘Ws’ – a man called Ray on our facebook) pack out a UK tour, release two explosive singles with support from BBC Introducing, Fresh on the Net and Amazing Radio and kick off a new partnership with Sugar House Productions (Viola Beach, Corella, Pale Waves) resulting in Winlaton, out March 2023.

Word is spreading. The Ilfords are back and they’re as hot as a steaming turd. Expect crunch, energy and sh*t hair in spades, and as good a live show as you’ll see (that week. maybe).

Amalgamating addictive anthemic pop with chic dance-rock, Birmingham’s Open Arms first came to attention pre-pandemic with their critically acclaimed debut single,‘Telescope’, which has also been re-released.

Their debut EP, ‘Sunflowers’ spawned the fan-favourite track ‘Honey’ and since then Open Arms have released a string of popular singles including ‘Wilderness’ and their catchy previous release ‘Wherever I Go’.

Open Arms are composed of frontman Ben Farmer, guitarist Sam Barratt and drummer Drew Peters. Dubbed the promising face of new music, they are an enthralling live band and have plans to tour the UK Autumn 2023.
Wallis

Originally from Cumbria Wallis released her debut single ‘Never Gonna Be’ in March 2020. The track made it onto Spotify’s popular releases and it was made track of the week by BBC Radio Cumbria before being picked for national airplay by Hew Stephens on BBC Radio1.

Since her debut Wallis has released 6 more tracks, all of which have made it to track of the week, she also made it onto the ‘Best of 2022’ by BBC Introducing and was shortlisted out of 10,000 artists for the Radio1 Live lounge competition.

In 2022 Wallis performed alongside names like Craig David and Bad Boy Chiller Crew to name a few. She’s thrilled to be in the semi final of the new blood comp!
