NHAC presents: FAKER VILLAIN + Charlie Turner
About this Event
Faker Villain
Live improvised jazz electronica. Faker Villian is a new project disrupting the sound of the classic jazz trio lineup. Bringing together the distinct styles of Faye Thompson on Saxophone & Electronics, Kavi Maraj on Bass & Electronics, and Dillon Harrison on Drums, Faker Villain melds groove, improvisation, and sonic exploration through the broad structures laid down by jazz and electro.
Influences include IDM, contemporary jazz and free jazz, progressive metal, ambient electronic, Hindustani classical, and experimental works. For fans of GoGo Penguin, John Carroll Kirby, Mammal Hands, The Comet is Coming, and Kiefer.
Charlie Turner
Charlie Turner is a new face and rising talent on the London scene. After successfully gigging his way up around Surrey pre-lockdown, he is back on the main stages of London and crushing it. For this show, Charlie bringing left-field rhythms, unorthodox structures and a reliably unique sound to South London - with a band of truly gifted musicians (who are no strangers to the local scene) expect to be shaken and well stirred by a truly fresh and original sound.
Having worked with Conor Albert and Basile Petite, expect a live jazz-ishness set with a healthy dose of mathy precise execution. Fans of Waldo’s Gift and 30/70, keep your eye out.
