The Line Up

In previous years Boardmasters has hosted some the most legendary talents around; line-ups of the past have featured Cypress Hill, Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, Snoop Dogg and Chase and Status. This years featured acts are looking to be no break in standards. Top of the bill, indie rockers Two Door Cinema Club will be making an appearance. The groups signature interweaving guitars and dulcet vocals have become a staple in the British indie rock scene since the groups inception roughly a decade ago. As of last year’s studio release ‘Gameshow’, the band has three albums to their name of critically acclaimed content. We look forward to seeing what they play first this August. British national treasures Jamiroquai are also headlining. As a prominent influence in the nineties acid jazz movement alongside bands like Incognito and the Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai have remained an innovative  group despite a few decades in the spotlight. With their most recent release this year, Automaton doing very well internationally across charts you can be safe to expect a performance of the same integrity. Returning with their mix of Indie dream pop sounds Alt J will be performing. The unorthodox group have wowed critics and audiences alike since their Leeds University formation with their unique combination of neat guitar, ethereal electronic effects and tribal vocals. With the expected release of their third hotly anticipated album this summer, their set should be a combination of much loved classics and new material. Grime superstar Stormzy will be continuing his victory lap this summer at Boardmasters. As the biggest name in this country’s most rapidly expanding genre Stormzy has had nothing but success in the last two years. His latest release ‘Gang Signs & Prayers’ holds the distinction of having every track being in the charts at the same time.  There are nothing but big things in this artists future as he rapidly overtakes his contemporaries. Be sure to catch his performance while you can still afford it. On top of all of these top of the mill artists you can look forward to sets from so many more talented acts. As I simply don’t have time to run through everyone playing be sure to get yourself on the website to browse the full line up.

Sports

On top such a strong line up, the festival has a thriving sports scene that draws enthusiasts from all over. Since 1981 Boardmasters has held the title of the biggest international professional surf contest and festival in this country. On arguably the most popular surfing coast of the UK, the fest has attracted a tonne of surf stars for decades. However Boardmasters many sporting events aren’t just for pros. So if surfing’s up your street whatever your skill level, come down and get involved.
