Fusion festival 2016
Just like Kim Kardashian broke the internet by posting a topless selfie, one of the UK’s most anticipated festivals did the same when they finally announced their 2016 line up… and we at Licklist Towers think it was well worth the wait. Instead of heading home to its usual spot in Birmingham, this year the festival is taking a vacation and heading up north to Otterspool Promenade, Liverpool on the 3rd-4th September. So, if you fancy a weekend of unapologetic pop tunes and falling in love with that scouse accent, then here’s everything you need to know.
The Line-Up
Having just one, big stage at the festival, you’re going to need some pretty big stars to keep all the people happy. But the clever folks at Fusion fest are already aware of this, and chose just the right people to have you singing your hearts out all day long (and forget how much your feet hurt).
On Saturday, we have the likes of American sensation Jason Derulo, Tinie Tempah, Labrinth, Craig David’s TS5 (his exclusive pre-party straight from his Miami penthouse), Sigala, Fleur East and hop-hop duo Krept & Konan. Sunday is boy-band central and is treating us to the best of our British talent. So, prepare to be wowed by Olly Murs, Busted, The Vamps, Ella Henderson, Jamie Lawson, Nathan Sykes and Lawson. Phew, so much Britishness and so many heartthrobs. Fusion is also going up in the world of tech this year, as it is creating an app which will show you backstage footage and secrets, competitions and some very exclusive content. Expect this to be one extravagant weekend.
No camp zone
Another great thing about Fusion festival is that there’s no camping, so think of all the benefits of that – looking clean and pristine in all your pics from the weekend and knowing at the end of the day you can go home to a normal toilet. There aren’t many festival go-ers that will get to feel the same way this summer, so think of yourself as those popular kids at school that everyone is jealous of! The music will start around 2pm and end at 10:30pm on both days, so that’s enough time to make sure you get a good night’s sleep and give those footsie’s a break before you do it all over again the next day.
Once you’re inside the main arena for the day, you won’t be able to leave again as they don’t allow you to re-enter. So make sure you’ve stocked up on everything you need to keep you going whilst your fave acts are on. The fest allows you to bring a small bottle of sealed water into the arena but no other food or drink is permitted. But, to make up for this, there’s going to be loads of food stalls and bars all around the site, so make sure you have enough cash to last you the day as they may not be willing to accept cards.
Now, here’s for the bad news. After much deliberation, the festival have decided that Selfie Sticks will not be allowed into the main arena. WE KNOW. We know you’re upset as we can practically hear the sobs from groups of teenage girls from miles away. But it will all be ok in the end, we promise you.
Tickets and Travel
A weekend ticket for Fusion costs only £89. What a bargain! If you only fancy one of the days, then this cost gets reduced to £48.50, and there are also options for Family tickets, Gold Circle and VIPs. With a Gold Circle ticket, you get to stand in a small area directly in front of the main stage so you can really get up close to the action. There are only 2000 of these tickets available for each day, so hurry! VIP’s will also get entry to the Bamboo VIP lounge and bar and get a range of benefits, such as a complimentary BBQ, luxury toilets and access to the most exclusive places on site. Getting to the promenade couldn’t be made any simpler, as Fusion have partnered up with National Express coaches and will be picking up from locations all around the country, including London, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle. This service will be running both day returns and weekend passes, plus you can save 25% on the price if you and your mates travel together. If coaches aren’t your thing, then the price of the car park is £8 per day, or just get yourself to Liverpool Lime Street or South Parkway stations and shuttle buses will be there to drop you right on the festivals doorstep.
