Boom Boom to Boomtown Fair

What’s on?

This year’s Hampshire quirky fair is approaching 11th-14th August in Matterley, Winchester, and it will be the eighth time this spectacular event will be held! The fair is notable for its unique taste of music from, folk, gypsy, reggae, punk, disco jazz, bass, jungle and techno in the heart of a cute little village which explores further onto the explosive high streets, where up to 60 shops can be visited too!

Who will be performing?

This fair boasts its uniqueness via 24 main stages, which varies with different genres of music! Some acts that will be found basing away, include, Neville  Staple Band, Fun Lovin Criminals, Bad Manners, 2Shy, Audio, Calibre, DJ Hype, DJ Hazard, Om Unit, MJ Cole, Leftover C, Sonic Boom Six, Derrick Carter, Derrick May, Friend Within, Shadow Child, Catjam, Little Violet, The Upbeats, Craig Charles, Seven Little Sisters, Dusk at Dawn, Foreign Beggars, Fast Decline and the great So Solid Crew!

For you reggae lovers you can roar away in ‘The Lion’s Den’, where acts such as, Damian Marley, Inner Circle, Madness, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Tarrus Riley, Morgan Heritage, Ed Solo and Benny Page, The Heatwave presents Showtime, Junior Kelly and Channel One, will be singing away to the Jamaican popular music vibes. Or for, a country western atmosphere then visit ‘The Old Mines’ where you can tap away to the likes of, Ilmeda May, Lau, Beans on Toast, Mokoomba, The Turbans and 3 Daft Monkeys.

Psychedlic fans can go wild in the ‘Psychedlic Forest’ where you can bash up and down with the trees, not too far from ‘The Old Mines’, with artists such as, Gaudi, GMS, Hilight Tribe, Hallucinogen, Neelix, Ozric Tentacles, Shpongle-Simon Posford DJ Set and Skazi, nesting away in the woods.

What else is on?

There are a variety of campuses to choose from dependent the type of music that tickles your fancy from, folk and indie music at ChinaTown, a dance off at Barrio Loco, live bands and electro vibes at Mayfair Avenue, a gypsy feel at OldTown, Whistlers Green and Trench Town for reggae and soul admirers, and Downtown ‘Dstrkt 5’ where the drum ‘n’ bass and jungle fever home is…so stay over in your own luxury caravan/campervan or live a greener experience with the option of desirable boutique camping where you can truly appreciate what this magical fair has to offer!

How do I get my ticket?

Tickets have been on sale since November 2015…so make sure you’re quick! The tickets range from £135-£170 and can be found on http://www.boomtownfair.co.uk/ tickets

Even media companies such as, The Financial Times, have something to say about this event, “Boomtown Fair is an immersive public art project disguised as a festival. In fields near Winchester, southern England, a temporary city arises like a film set.” So what are you waiting!?
