Madness in Magaluf!

Magaluf. No, it's not a character from Lord of the Rings. In actual fact it's a purpose-built party destination found on the popular holiday island of Majorca.

Getting there is easy - particularly with all the budget airlines around these days so you should have a little more left in your pocket to cover the cost of clubbing. There's good news on that score too - Magaluf is far cheaper than Ibiza, for instance, for those looking to enjoy a beverage or two.

Pubs and clubs

The pubs and clubs are definitely a big attraction for most people and you will find bars everywhere you go, but there are two main areas of the resort for nightlife. The main strip can be found running parallel to the beach and there are plenty of small nightclubs here.  For those committed bar hoppers, it's a good place to flit from one to another and get a flavour of the area. The Banana Disco can be found on the strip and is well-known for dance music.  Those who get a ticket for this disco can also get into four other nightclubs on the main strip.  This club has resident DJs and was one of the first nightclubs in the resort.

Awesome Alternatives

Don't say that Licklist never gives you any options to explore. Options – we love 'em – particularly when they offer big names, big tunes and big nights.

Take the BCM square for example.  Home to the BCM nightclub (the largest club in the resort) it is the place to go for the bigger name DJs.  It is actually one of the biggest nightclubs in the whole of Europe but you need to beware of the lower dance floor as this is where you could end up covered in foam or soaked with water.  Once you have paid to get in the drinks are free of charge - although you can only take one at a time.  You even get given free T-shirts and other freebies and the club now has a VIP section too.

Magaluf…on the rocks

Anyone who has ever been to Ibiza will know of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel and this particular establishment has now opened a sister hotel on Majorca island, called the Mallorca Rocks Hotel.  Here you can enjoy live music during the summer season with a concert held once a week.  Some of the big names that have already appeared include Tinie Tempah and Dizzee Rascal.

You'll keep coming back

The Boomerang nightclub can be found on the strip and a number of top DJs have also appeared here.  Tokio Joe’s is also located here and opens every night of the week.  Music played here focuses on hip-hop and R&B and it's widely considered to be one of the best clubs on the island.

However, you do not have to stick to clubs and bars to have a great party in Magaluf.  Should you happen to be there on the 4th July, you can be part of one of the biggest parties that the resort sees each year.  There are themed parties all over the resort that involve the locals as well as the tourists.  If that wasn't enough, The BBC Radio One crowd turn up in August and promptly host one of the biggest events of the year, with tourists arriving from all over the world to take part.  Alternatively try the Magaluf Boat Party.  Dance and drink the night away on a boat with around 200 other like-minded souls.  The boats stop at various beaches along the coast so you can also do a little swimming if you like…a shock technique for sobering up; but Licklist is assured it works…

A final word…

With so many places to party, it can be easy to forget about other great features of this resort.  After a hard night’s clubbing, consider relaxing on one of the great beaches.  Why not try Cala Vinyes?  This is a great place for a little peace and quiet after a heavy night. A lot of tourists opt for the Playa de Magaluf which can get busy but everything you need is close so you don’t have to worry about moving about too much!
