London Nightlife 101: Your Student Guide

Determined to make the most of London while the books are closed? We’ve got some fabulous tips to ensure you’ll be feeling fresh on freshers’ week and beyond.

 £££

You’re in the big city, the night is young, and you’re ready to go! To the checkpoint, to see your balance, and conclude that champagne sparklers aren’t on the agenda. What to do? You don’t have to get freaky at Mahiki to make the most of student life in London. We’ve got a selection of alternatives that’ll have you making it rain — ‘cause you don’t need it! Why not try Bar Rumba in Leicester Square for affordable drinks, a live dance floor, and fabulously flexible opening times? You could also check out West End Gone Wild, a pub crawl covering five venues and offering shots and drinks deals all night!

Students Only

Well, you might be allowed in if you’re not currently studying ... but these nights will connect you with students from all over!  Visit the Silent Sounds Boat Party for two silent discos — one on each deck — while the Thames drifts by. Try the Lock Down London Club Tour for fast-track entry through some of London’s hottest and choosiest clubs. Into free shots and drink deals? They’ll be on offer throughout the night. Book to party with up to 100 others.

Feeling Fresh?

If you’re brand-new on the scene, you’ll want to make it a freshers’ week to remember! (However hazily.) Check out the Drink Shop & Do for your freshers’ fiesta. It’s a bar in the heart of Kings Cross, and it’s open Tuesdays through Thursdays — when it hosts an outrageous and savagely competitive game of musical bingo.Head to Cargo in Shoreditch for food, drinks, and dancing into the early hours. We recommend it for affordable prices, a great vibe, and the perfect location for freshers’ week club-hopping. There are a million things to choose from as a student in London, but it can take a bit of effort to find what’s on your wavelength. We hope we’ve given you the inspiration to explore the breadth of the city’s nightlife, from silent discos to musical chairs. Happy trails!
