GoldCoast Oceanfest 2017: Music and more by the sea

Now in its 18th year the GoldCoast Oceanfest returns to Croyde Bay from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th of June. As one of the most scenic festival sites you can experience in the UK you can’t ask for a better spot than the North Devon Heritage coast. With a barrage of sporting events on top of three nights of the best music around expect the environment to be used to its fullest. While the Oceanfest itself does not house its crowd, the site is just a short walk away from the accommodating Ruda Holiday Park that offers a range of caravans, lodges, beach side apartments and camping locations; a prime spot to recharge out of festival hours. On top of an exciting line-up of current artists (previous years have featured Ben Howard, Newton Faulkner and Bastille) GoldCoast Oceanfest offers a range of competitive sports across the three day event. Experience skateboarding, surfing, beach volleyball, ironman and diamond lady events to keep you charged throughout your time on the Devon coast. In a deal that would be a shame to miss, if you get yourself a family ticket this year one adult can come for free.

Who will be Playing

With a line-up that truly caters parents and teens alike GoldCoast Oceanfest is pulling no punches this year. Electronic DJ duo Sigma will be making an appearance that should satisfy any dance hall fan. From early beginnings meeting at Leeds Uni the two piece have gone from strength to strength building a reputation as one of the biggest names on the EDM scene. Indie rockers the Kaiser Chiefs will be playing a set full of old school classics and new material. The group have a signature sound many of us have grown up with and after over a decade in the spotlight have six albums to their names. As a fundamental element in the noughties indie rock movement the Kaisers set is definitely something to look forward to. Pop rock trio Scouting for Girls will be gracing us with their back catalogue of ballads and top 10 classics. The group this year are hosting a number of gigs and fund raising events (to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s Association) to coincide with their ten year anniversary of their first signing. We look forward to celebrating with them beachside. British DJ royalty Charlie Sloth will be bringing his unique combination of hip-hop, grime and political commentary to Croyde Bay. Sloth is maybe best known for his BBC Radio 1 slot ‘Fire in the Booth’ that regularly debuts up and coming rappers as well as showcasing already well known talents such as Akala, Devlin, Professor Green, Big Narstie and so many more. With these artists, and much more still to be released there is so much to get excited for.
