BBC Big Weekend Hull 2017

With the last Big Weekend being one of the biggest events of summer 2016, it is no surprise that we folks at Licklist are waiting in anticipation for this year’s event. The festival hosted by BBC’s premier music station Radio 1 is an annual Mecca to this countries latest and greatest music acts. Currently the biggest free ticketed music event in Europe, the two day festival last year graced its audience with big names such as Mumford and Sons, Coldplay, Bring Me the Horizon and Biffy Clyro.

With a new location Burton Constable hall in Hull, West Yorkshire this year (a sprawling stately home with beautiful grounds) and a group of already released top acts promising to satisfy music lovers of all different genres, Big Weekend 2017 is off to a great start. From the 27th to the 28th of May there will be no better place for any avid music lover to be.

Acts Released So Far

While those in the know will have to wait till a time closer to the event for full details of the line-up, we can reveal those acts released so far as a taster of what’s to come.In an epic return since they made their Big Weekend debut in Londonderry four years ago, Little Mix are set to make an appearance. Now at the top of their game the four ladies have gone from success to success; we expect their set on the R1BW stage to be the best yet. Indie rockers Kings of Leon will be bringing their trademark sound to the Big Weekend this year off the back of their latest EP ‘Walls’. Now seven albums into a career that has become the backing track to many of our lives, we wait in suspense of what they will play first. The biggest name in the exponential genre of 2017, Stormzy will be coming to Hull this May bringing with him a back catalogue of some of the biggest tunes of this year. The grime prince has just dropped the first album in the genre to reach number one in the UK charts, also his debut ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’. With these top names and so many more to come it is unlikely that this year’s line-up will disappoint.

Remember that tickets will go very quickly and supply will not meet the demand. While tickets themselves are free there is a small charge (£8.50) for postage packing etc. Make sure you stay dialled in to Radio 1 for more information.
