UK Reggae A Bright Future

Friday 2nd –Sunday  4th September

Hainault Forest Country Park,

Fox Burrow Road, Chigwell, London IG7 4QN

I have the greatest pleasure today in announcing that One Love Festival after a huge amount of work and collaboration has finally secured a permanent premises license to host the annual Reggae Festival in Hainault Forest Country Park, turning Hainault into the new Capital for Reggae and Culture for the UK and Europe - finally securing a home for our foreseeable future. We moved to this perfect venue Hainault Country Park back in 2010 and 2011 unfortunately the Park was taken over by the Army in 2012 as a barracks when it had to step in for G4S during the London Olympics. We had four other venues since and every year we’ve asked to return to Hainault. It’s taken four years to reinstate the land as an event venue and finally this year they agreed to our request – and we can’t wait to welcome you all back …

Headliners LEE ‘SCRATCH” PERRY, JUNIOR REID, BIG YOUTH, HALF PINT, MAX ROMEO, TAPPA ZUKIE, KABAKA PYRAMID & JAH9, will be Joining Gaudi, Macka B, Brinsley ‘Aswad’ Forde, Mad Professor, King Addis Sound, Natty, Sister Nancy, Ikong and many, many more over 4 stages including the biggest Sound System Clash in the World.

Battle of the Dubplates:

Sound System History:

The sound system concept first became popular in the 1950s, in the ghettos of Kingston. DJs would load up a truck with a generator, turntables, and huge speakers and set up street parties. An important part of sound system culture is the sound clash, an organized battle between two or more systems. The culture of the Sound System was brought to the UK with the mass immigration of Jamaicans in the 1960s and 70's

We have gained a loyal UK fan base and interest from all over the world. Paying homage to our philosophy of “One Love” and to the foundation of Reggae Music. Each year always Booking the Pioneers of the scene playing Conscience Roots, Dub Music and enjoying all its sub genres.

The ONE LOVE FESTIVAL is a melting pot, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, free trade and environmentally-friendly event, buzzing with creativity, fun, ideas and soul. One of the most diverse and unique festivals in the UK, the ONE LOVE FESTIVAL offers something for everyone and is an experience that should not be missed. Bringing together all the facilities and allures of a large-scale event but with the personal touch of a small, independent occasion. When you experience ONE LOVE it is something not to be forgotten.

One Love Festival’s inception in 2008 marked the 30th anniversary of Reggae legend Bob Marley’s concert of the same name. The famous concert was held in Kingston, Jamaica during a political civil war between opposing parties; Jamaican Labour Party and the People’s National Party. The concert came to its peak when Marley joined the hands of political rivals, Michael Manley (PNP) and Edward Seaga (JLP).

The One Love Festival's popularity increases each year, and brings together some of the industry’s greatest veterans, alongside the rising stars of tomorrow. Being the only reggae camping festival in the UK makes it a special occasion with a friendly and chilled vibe. For those who love the Caribbean sound, this is your chance to experience the taste too with a huge range of catering outlets providing authentic food. Also expect an array of independent stall holders selling crafts, clothing, cultural items and most importantly records, so you can take some of the music home.
